Imphal, November 16:
Another stand off between a Christian family and the local residents has surfaced at Phumlou Keirao Mayai Leikai in connection with a Christian burial conducted yesterday.
Again it is the same family which is at the centre of the present case.
According to a report filed with the OC of Lamsang police station today by Amuba Phijam, Pastor of Phumlou Baptist Church, his father, late Phijam Leibakmacha was buried peacefully yesterday with full Christian burial service.
The burial service was conducted after getting the due permission from the District Magistrate of Imphal West.
The complaint said that after the burial service, the villagers of Mayanglangjing dug out the body and deposited it at the residence of the deceased at Phumlou Mayai Leikai.
Pastor Amuba Phijam in his petition to the police prayed that due security be provided so that the body may be re-buried peacefully.
The deceased was a practising Christian.
This is not the first time that an uproar has been raised over the burial of a Christian at Phumlou area.
On July 13 this year, the mother of Pastor Amuba, Ph Yumshang Devi was buried at the Phumlou Baptist Church campus.
However the people of Mayang Langjing and Phumlou had dug out the body and deposited it at the residence of the deceased on July 14.
