New Delhi, November 16:
The 18 State pavilions opened at the India International Trade Fair are doing brisk business with Pureiromba Muga and Silk WCS Wangkhei recording the highest sales amongst the State pavilions notching up sales of Rs 11,465 on the first day, Sunday and Rs 10,145 on the second day.
The total amount grossed by the State pavilions on the first day stood at Rs 70,500 which rose to Rs 75,358 on the second day.
The 18 State units include one State Govt Department, two State Public Sector Undertakings, six Weavers' Co-operative Societies and nine Individual/Joint Handloom and Handicraft Units.
Of these eight units deal exclusively in handloom industry, six in handicrafts while three including the Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation and Manipur Development Society are involved in both handloom and handicrafts.
This is the 24th IITF organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation under the twin themes of agriculture and Information Technology.
President APJ Abdul Kalam inaugurated the trade fair on November 14.The major portion of the State pavilion is being covered with varieties of colorful and world famed Manipuri handloom products being exhibited in almost all the individual stalls.
