MPCC celebrates Nehru's birth anniv

Chief Minister O Ibobi has called upon all the people of the country to work collectively in order to achieve what the country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru visualized for the country.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the 125th birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru observed today at Congress Bhavan here under the aegis of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) .
Ibobi stated that public memory is still fresh about Nehru's momentous role in India's freedom struggle.
He was a frontline freedom fighter among other freedom fighters of the country.
He described Nehru as the architect of modern India.
Taking due note of his leadership qualities and educational background, Nehru was elected as the first Prime Minister of independent India.
It's time for the present generation to strive collectively in order to realize Nehru's ideals and vision of India.

It is in acknowledgement of Nehru's love and affection for children that his birth anniversary is being celebrated as Children's Day across the country, Ibobi asserted.
MPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam suggested that the gathering, apart from offering floral tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru, pledge to walk on the footpath of Nehru's vision and objectives.
Saying that leaders of different political parties would be visiting the State, Gaikhangam called upon all the people to be on guard against what these political leaders may preach and do in the State.
The birth anniversary function was also participated by the Council of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, MPCC office bearers, leaders of party's frontal organisations and cells.
The function was opened with offering of floral tributes at the statue of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Later, a rally christened 'Run for Future' was flagged off from Congress Bhavan to mark the occasion and it was led by Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
As a part of the function, a State level painting competition was also held where 467 students took part.
In category I (Class III-V), L Rohit of Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Sahil Sahani of Dave Public School and Christina Irungbam of Nirmalabas School bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively.
In category II (Class VI-VIII), Talent Khaidem of Dave Public School, Lanchenba Wairokpam of Kindergarten Montessori and Jenita Nameirakpam of Blooming Dale School won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
