World War�II relics excavated at Heingang Hill

Imphal, November 14 2014 :
War relics comprising spent cartridges, blank ammunitions and other metals of war origin were found at Heingang Hill during an excavation of earth by an excavator (JCV) .
The team of 2nd World War Imphal campaign foundation rushed to the site with metal detectors and was able to find lots of relics, said a statement from Ashok L, Media Coordinator of the Foundation.
According to the statement, the location is known to the allied forces as "The Keep".
It was part of the headquarters of the 4 Corps under Field Marshall Slim.
The location excavated today looks like a firing range as there was no battle fought at this area, and it can also be a dumping place for spend bullets.

The locals and the excavator owner Nilachandra khunaijam also donated more relics which they found during the earth excavation since yesterday.
The relics donated shall be put in the Imphal War Museum.
Relics donated consisted of spent cartridges, K ration tins, aluminum Tiffin etc.
Mentioned may be made here that the 2nd world war Imphal campaign foundation excavated a location near the area last year and found lots of relics.
