Imphal, November 14 2014 :
Even as local people's jubilation over sending sincere teachers to Huikap Government High School is yet to subside, the same teachers have been transferred away after abolishing their posts.
This is nothing but gross violation of the right to education, decried Trinamool Congress State unit president and MLA Th Shyamkumar.
Children's Day celebrations held today at Poireikhongjil High School and Huikap Government High School were attended by MLA Shyamkumar.
The MLA also visited Top Chingtha Khunou Primary School and conducted a field assessment of the school building construction work.
The school building is being constructed anew under SSA at the cost of Rs 8 lakh.
The MLA assured that the new school building would be handed over to the people within the current month.
Talking to media persons who accompanied him, Shyamkumar acknowledged that the Government has constructed a new building for Huikap Govt High School under SSA.
As the teachers posted at the school was quite insufficient, local people hired additional teachers at their own expense and thus the school was revived.
Considering the acute shortage of teachers at the school, Education Department sent competent teachers to the school.
But even as the euphoria was yet to subside, some teachers were removed and utilized as DIs at the ZEO office.
This is nothing but nipping the career of the students.
He went on to ask, "If the teachers were to be recalled so soon, why were they sent to the school in the first place ?" .
He lambasted the Education Minister, the Education Commissioner and the Director for their whimsical and ridiculous approach towards school education.
Giving impressive speeches without seeing where there are students, schools and teachers and where there is shortage of physical infrastructure and teaching would not bring anything positive for the State.
The Congress Government must understand that education of young children is crucial for the State's future.
Calling back all the teachers is nothing but abolition of the school which implies denial of right to education to a large number of students.
For the convenience of teachers' movement, a vehicle would be arranged for Huikap High School, assured the MLA.
He further declared that a new building for Poiroukhongjil High School would be constructed before commencement of the next academic session.
