Members of PNU, PTM, PNM desecrate Theiva church

Christian faithfuls of Thiwa, a Tangkhul village in Senapati district, have alleged that the activists of Poumai organisations had desanctified their Church and its properties on Nov 9.In an interaction with mediapersons in Ukhrul, the Thiwa (Theiva) villagers led by its Church workers said members of Poumai Naga Union (PNU), PTM and PNM broke open the lock of Theiva Baptist Church (PBC) and desecrated its properties on November 9 last.
A number of memorial stones of the church, women society and Christian Youth Society were damaged, while the name ''Theiva Baptist Church, TBCA'' written on the church was replaced by ''Thiwa Baptist Church, PNBA.'' More than 300 members of PNU, PTM and PNM in 42 vehicles reportedly arrived at Thiwa village on November 7 and held a meeting with villagers the next day.
The village is rift by two churches which are under separate association - one affiliated to Poumai Naga Baptist Association.
