Three cadres of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) laid down arms before IG AR (South) Maj Gen CA Krishnan and DGP Y Joykumar today.
The PLA cadres laid down arms in a surrender ceremony held at Hqs IG AR (S) at Mantripukhri today.
The PLA cadres who have joined the mainstream at the initiative of 12 AR of 10 Sector have been identified as Ronelson alias Joychandra Singh, Momo alias Naoba Meitei and Gokul Meitei.
All three of them claimed that they were Lance Corporals in the banned PLA.
They brought along one M 16 rifle with magazine containing 11 live rounds, one AK-47 rifle with magazine containing 11 live rounds and one 9 mm pistol with magazine containing two live rounds.
Speaking at the occasion, DGP Y Joykumar said that no change can be expected from UG groups indulging in extortion from Govt depts and traders.
It would be in the best interest of all to concentrate on the ways and means of bringing development and progress in Manipur.

Welcoming the surrendered PLA cadres to the mainstream, the DGP remarked that Manipur, being a landlocked state, has limited opportunities.
Underscoring the paramount importance of maintaining peace in order to bring development in a society, the DGP cautioned that taking the wrong path would not bring anything positive.
Speaking to media persons after the surrender ceremony, Maj Gen CA Krishnan remarked that bilateral relation between India and Myanmar has been improving.In addition to securing cordial relationship at the ground level, ties between the two countries at the level of armed forces are also growing stronger.
Most recently, the two countries came to an understanding.
This new development would go a long a way in containing insurgency movement in Manipur, the IG AR (S) asserted.
Talking about border fencing, Maj Gen CA Krishnan said that work on border fencing for a stretch of 10 Kms along Indo-Myanmar border has already started.
However, this would take time as it is a major project, he added.
