Teachers of Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong staged a protest demonstration today against monetary demands served on them by KCP Malemnganba group.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration staged inside the school campus, the teachers said that some people who identified themselves as cadres of KCP Malemnganba group called up the Headmaster and demanded that each teacher should pay Rs 250 per month and one-time annual tax of Rs 3000 per teacher.
The matter was discussed in a joint meeting of the teachers together with the Principal and it was decided that the teachers were no position to fulfil the demands.
The teachers staged the demonstration today demanding withdrawal of the monetary demand.
They pointed out that Don Bosco School is a private school and the meagre salaries they get from fees collected from the students are being used to run their families.
On account of the protest demonstration, normal classes were suspended after the second period.
