To honour the services rendered to the society by its late members, All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers Welfare Association (AMRDP-WA) provided aid to two of its late members, Md Jamal and L Doren in the 17th presentation ceremony held at GM Hall today.
The association provided an aid of Rs 10, 000 each to the families of the late members.
Works Minister K Ranjit, who was chief guest of the function also gifted Rs 5000 each.
He also donated Rs 10, 000 to the association.
Patsoi A/C MLA Sapam Kunjakeshore (Keba), AMWJU General Secretary Naoroibam Philips and AMRDPWA President Leihaothabam Subash Sharma were also present in the function.
Kunjakeshore while speaking at the function said that one must work with honesty and dedication no matter in what profession he/she is.
One must contribute to the society in their own ways through their professions with a sacrificial spirit, he added.
The MLA also stressed on the importance of discipline and sicerity in gaining success in a profession.
Naoroibam Philips while speaking at the function suggested the members of the association to work in a way to gain public support and trust.
Saying that dependants in a family often take the wrong way to make up with the void that a bread winner leaves behind with his/her death, Philips suggested to have a long term policy to avoid such problems in the family of the rickshaw pullers.
Earlier, floral tributes were paid to the photographs of the late members of the association.
