Imphal, April 03:
Even as hardliners of the Apunba Lup have intensified their stand against the authorities of Little Flower School and announced an indefinite closure of the school, the Government has issued strict instructions to the DGP to round up anyone found threatening schools and to send them to jail.
Talking to The Sangai Express, a well placed source said that the Government is not at all amused by the pressure exerted on schools by some groups and added that the State police have been asked to get tough and round up anyone found threatening schools.
One group of the Apunba Lup had decided to ban Little Flower School after the school authority allegedly did not allow its students to take part in the sit-in-protest called by the Lup to protest the arrival of the Review Committee, set up to study the AFSPA, on March 23.Three leaders of the Apunba Lup are presently in police custody for threatening the school.
The source further said that the Govt has decided not to brook any pressure exerted on any educational institutions and accordingly strict instructions have been issued to the police to get its act going.
Meanwhile the Review Committee, comprising its Chairman Justice (Retd) BB Reddy, PP Shrivastava, Dr SB Nakade, Lt Gen (Retd) VR Raghavan and journalist Sanjoy Hazarika are set to arrive here on April 23 to conduct a public hearing at Senapati.
The team will first touch down at Imphal and then proceed to Senapati the same day.
The team was earlier scheduled to conduct a public hearing at Senapati on March 23 but that was cancelled as they could not arrive at the venue from Dimapur due to the inclement weather.
