Imphal, April 03:
Setting April 9 (Meetei Cheiraoba) as the deadline for the implementation of Meetei Mayek, the proscribed KCP has today warned that if the Government sleeps over the matter and refuses to implement the indigenous script, then the outfit will be constrained to impose a one week bandh in the entire State.
In a statement, MK Mangang of the outfit said that MEELAL activists have been on a stir since March 9 this year to demand the implementation of Meetei Mayek from this year and added that KCP has always and will support the demand for the implementation of the indigenous script.
The proposed one Week bandh will affect the poor and daily wage earners, acknowledged the outfit but added that such a sacrifice is needed for the future of the land and the people.
Taking pot shots at the Government, the outfit said that its refusal to implement the script is nothing but exposes the fact that those in position of power and authority are not dispensing with the duties properly.
