The Catholic Church in Manipur, commonly known as the Archdiocese of Imphal along with its Archbishop Rev Joseph Mittathany, Co-adjutor Archbishop Dominic Lumon and with about 80,000 Catholics including priests and religious men and women have deeply mourned the demise of supreme pastor and leader Pope John Paul II early morning today.
Lovingly called as Pope, John Paul II was elected the head of the Catholic Church in 1978 and led nearly 1.1 billion Catholics throughout the world as a moral voice and sustained their faith in a remarkable manner.
In order to pray for the peaceful repose of the departed soul in its heavenly abode, a Holy Mass will be held tomorrow at 8.30 am at St Joseph's Cathedral, Mantripukhri.
