Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Jiribam Local Council has come out strongly against certain section of the people who are playing with the lives of the students who passed out from Open Schooling in their unscrupulous efforts to earn money and convert education into a profit making enterprises.
Taking advantage of the denial eligibility certificates for admission in mainstream education to those students who passed out from Open schooling by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur certain unscrupulous and mean-minded persons have capitalised on the uncertainty that prevailed over the fate of these students, Council president Sinam Ananta said in a statement made available to the press today.
Elaborating on the matter, Ananta informed the careers of 175 students, who passed their class X from the open schooling centre sat Asemkumar Science and Technology Institution, Canchipur and Imphal Intermediate College, Kwakeithel and were taken Cachar for appearing in the class XII examination, have been put at stake after they were refused by the Assam Council.
According to the statement, principal of Asemkumar Science and Technology Institution Khoirom Prafullo and principal of Imphal Intermediate College Laitongjam Muhindro Singh took the students to Cachar.
The two principals in connivance with the principal of Earle High Secondary School, Cachar Lakhipur and another teacher of the school identified as Manikanta Sharma made arrangement for allowing the students to give their examination.
However, when the Assam Council detected the matter, all the related documents have been seized and the students were denied from appearing in the examination, thus putting their careers at stake.
The said teacher and the principals have also collected over Rs 8 lakhs from the student victims on one pretext or another, the statement alleged.
The students' body also come down heavily on the parents of those students for trying to lead their young children on the wrong path.
