To protest against the State Govt's failure to provide adequate teachers and other required infrastructures, the students of Lating Khan High School, Jmham have been reportedly staying away from writing their HSLC examination, 2005 being conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur.
According to information given by secretary education and academic affairs, DESAM Jiri Local Council Champa Chanu, the examination which began since Maich 30 is being conducted for Jiribam private centre at Jiri Higher Secondary School.
Out of the 12 schools for which the examination centre has been allotted at Jiri Higher Secondary School, the students of Lating Khan High School have boycotted the examination.
The students of the high school are complaining against lack of adequate teachers in the school which have resulted in not completion of syllabus of many of the subjects even after the end of the academic session, the statement informed.
The students' body categorically asked the elected representatives for understanding the grievances of the students living in remote areas if they would like to remain for a long time in the service of the people.
As for the conduct of the going HSLC examination at Jiribam private centre, the statement said the examination is going on smoothly while appealing to the teachers on duty to ensure that the students who not use unfair means in writing their papers.
AKSU warns: All Kangleipak Students' Union (AKSU) has warned of taking up strict action against those who defy public curfew imposed within 500 metres of the HSLC examination centres.
In a statement, AKSU president M Totomshana asserted that the public curfew around the examination centres has been imposed so that the examination could be conducted peacefully.
There is no reason why action should not be taken against those who are trying to defy the curfew, he added.
