Amritsar, June 24 2012:
NDA backed presidential candidate PA Sangam began his campaigning for First Citizen of India after paying obeisance at Golden Temple on Sunday.
While squarely blaming finance minister and his rival Congress party's presidential candidate Pranab Mukharjee for inflation and corruption in the country , Sangma said "During Pranab's tenure as Finance Minister, inflation and corruption have crossed all its limits and rupee has plunged to an all time low" .
He said Pranab might be having support of corporate world but he enjoyed support of people of India.
"As former President VV Giri had independently won the presidential elections, this time also UPA's calculations would prove wrong and history will be repeated" he said.
He said the president of a country didn't belong to any one particular party but to all parties.
He said issuing whip by parties for presidential elections didn't mean anything because of secret ballot.
"I am hopeful that many members of UPA will also vote for me" he said.
Sangma also talked to chief minister Parkash Singh over phone who assured him of his party's support.
