International Day of Yoga observed

A series of public Yoga sessions marked the 5th International Day of Yoga today in Manipur.
Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Imphal, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organized a special Yoga session for school children and general public at St Joseph Higher Secondary School, Imphal West.
Over 500 school children, teachers, parents and Principal Father Victor Arul attended the event.
The Principal in his speech said that Yoga is medication provided by India to the international community.
It is physically, mentally and spiritual exercise, he said.
Ganga Ningombam, International Yoga trainer and secretary, Yoga Training and Research Centre, Manipur, Sonikumar Head of ROB, Imphal also attended the event.
Photo exhibitions, cultural programmes, rally and quiz for children were also organized to ensure greater involvement of the participants.

Mahila Patanjali Yog Samiti Manipur celebrated the day at Multipurpose Community Hall NSK Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi, Imphal East.
Manipur State Women Development Corporation chairperson S Satyabhama, Rajya Prabhari Mahila Patanjali Yog Samiti Manipur N Neelima Devi and former Director of Prosecution Manipur State Ng Tejkumar Singh attended the event, said a statement of the Samiti today.
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) also observed the day under the theme "Climate Action and Yoga for Heart" at the Jubilee Hall of the institute in Imphal.
Director of RIMS, Imphal Prof A Santa Singh led the celebration.
The Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Prof Ch Arunkumar Singh, Dean (Academic) Prof Akoijam Joy Singh, faculty members from Medical, Dental and College of Nursing, officials, nursing officials, staff and students took part in the celebration, said a statement of RIMS.
AR celebrates International Day of Yoga: The Assam Rifles also participated the State level Yoga Day organised by Directorate of AYUSH, Govt of Manipur at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
Assam Rifles personnel along with other CAPF joined the civil populace and participated in the Common Yoga Protocol conducted at the stadium.
About 1,400 personnel including troops and families participated in the event, said PRO IGAR (South).
Keithelmanbi Sector Assam Rifles including Mantripukhri, Keithelmanbi, Thoubal and Tulihal Battalions and their Company Operating Bases observed the day at Langthabal Kunja Youth Club, Arapati Community Hall, Mayai Keithel, Lairam Punkha, Yairipok High School, Govt Public High School Leimapokpam, Pole Star School Patsoi, Salam Football Ground, Sarita Devi Boxing Academy and Khuman School.
More than 1,200 troops and over 3,000 locals including Meira Paibis and children celebrated the day.
Yoga Day was also celebrated with students of ARPS Keithelmanbi and Phundrei and with members of ASG, CISF and AAI at Imphal International Airport, said AR.
Somsai Sector Assam Rifles witnessed overwhelming participation of more than 1,500 troops and families across remote and far flung areas of Ukhrul and Kamjong-Somsai, Shangshak and Chassad.
Pallel Sector Assam Rifles celebrated the day at various villages of at Pallel, Moreh, Chongjang, Tengnoupal, Khudengthabi, Chandel, Machi, Larong, Bongyang and in remote and border villages of Sita, RRC, Kwatha, Moltuk, Khemdo, Khengjoi, Phaisanjang and Molcham.
Over 1,858 individuals including AR personnel participated the programmes.
The day was also celebrated at St Stephen's School and various institutions like Chandel Bikers Club, Japhou Bazar Association and Naga Women Association.
Kakching Sector Assam Rifles celebrated the day at Sehlon, Joupi, Kakching, Sajik Tampak, Haika, Paldai Glengai and Kovang village.
GC, Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF), Imphal too observed the day under the aegis of IGP, CRPF Manipur & Nagaland.

NCC Group Imphal celebrated the day in a total of twenty locations across the State today.
About 3,000 cadets, led by five officers and assisted by sixty ANOs/CTOs, 22 PI staff, Principals, teachers and staff took part in the celebrations, said PIB (Defence Wing).
Brigadier RS Sethi, Cdr NCC Gp conveyed his congratulations to all cadets for taking part in IDY-2019 .
Units of Eastern Command organised various workshops at Kolkata, Dimapur, Shillong, Tezpur, Sukna, Panagarh and all other military stations involving the local population to create awareness about Yoga, said PIB (Defence Wing) .
The 5th International Day of Yoga, 2019 was also celebrated at Sinam Shyama Town Hall, Chingmeirong.
H Balkrisna Singh, Director IPR, Manipur graced the occasion as chief guest.
The celebration was jointly organized by Chingmeirong Patanjali Yoga Centre, the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
Imphal Division and Bharat Vikas Parishad, Imphal City.
The celebration was marked by group performance of Yoga, devotional and patriotic songs and sharing of testimonies regarding the benefits derived from practising Yoga.
Renowned Urologist, Dr Sinam Rajendra Singh, National vice-president of Bharat Vikas Parishad and Dr Hemam Priyosakhi Devi, president of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur attended the programme as guests of honour.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal too observed the day at the premises of the academy today with talk about Yoga and Yoga exercises.
About 150 persons - artistes, Gurus, staff and students of the academy including H Tombi Singh, Vice Chairman, JNMDA, L Upendro Sharma, Director JNMDA and RK Nabindra Singh, Pradhan Guru JNMDA attended the event.
