Tengnoupal, December 20 2018:
Landowners affected by the NH-102 expansion have formed a JAC today and staged sit in demanding fair compensation at the earliest.
Villagers including children of Chahmol and adjoining areas,' affected by the expansion work, in large number participated in the protest.
Speaking to media persons at the protest, JAC secretary J Haokip alleged that the compensation amount due to be released is much less than the actual compensation amount the authorities concerned had intimated in the 2016 at the time of the survey for the project.
Due to the difference in the amounts, the landowners will not accept the compensation, he said and added that the affected landowners had filed a complaint regarding the matter to the Deputy Commissioner Tengnoupal 7 months back.
Appealing the authorities concerned and the Government to fulfil their demands by January 3, the affected landowners said that they will impose bandh along the National Highway 102 and boycott highway expansion works, if Government and authorities concerned fail to meet their demands.
