Over 90 pc polling in re-poll

The re-poll of 4th Panchayat elections which was conducted today in 8 polling stations recorded a polling percentage of over 90 percent.
The re-poll was held following spate of violence, thus forcing voters to abstain from exercising their franchise yesterday.
The re-poll was conducted today with heavy security arrangement in the eight polling stations from 7am to 4 pm.
Braving rain, a large number of voters came out to exercise their franchise in the repoll.
Around 92 percent of voters turned up to cast their votes in polling station number 12/9/10 (Phunal Maring Jr High School.
The poll percentage recorded at polling station number 17/24/1 (Andro Khunou UJB School) in Imphal East was 97; 91 in polling station number 3/9/1 (Yengkhom Leirak Community Hall-W/W) and 95 in polling station number 12/8/4 (Nambul Mapal High School) in Imphal West.
The poll percentage in polling station number 6/14/1 (Wangjing Khunou LP School) in Thoubal was recorded at 91.88 percent of voters turned up to cast their votes in polling station number 6/12/1 (Phuballa High School-W/W) while 86 percent in polling station number 9/6/4 (Thanga Samukol Primary School) in Bishnupur Disatrict.
Polling station number 9/6/10 (Thanga Salam Government High School- S/W) in Bishnupur district recorded a poll percentage of 91 .
With the completion of re-poll in 8 polling stations today, all arrangements have been made for counting of votes on September 17 .
According to notifications issued by the Imphal East DC today, all preparations have been made for the counting process in three counting halls.
The notifications informed that in respect of RO Porompat, the counting of votes will be done at Panchayat Bhawan located in Porompat DC Complex.
For RO Keirao Bitra, the counting will be done at the Training hall of DIC, Imphal East.
With a view to ensure smooth conduct of counting of votes on September 17 at Panchayat Bhawan located in Porompat DC Complex and the Training hall of DIC, Imphal East from 8 am onwards, the notification further informed that carrying of cigarettes, match box, sharp pointed articles, mobile phones/electronic devices/cameras, calculator and pan (tambul)/khaini would be restricted inside the counting halls.
Furthermore, the security personnel deployed in connection with the counting of votes have been directed to carry out frisking of every individual before entering the counting halls.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer of Imphal West N Ashok Kumar has informed that arrangement of securities and regulation of movement of persons and vehicles in and around the DC Complex, Lamphel have been made to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of counting of votes for the 4th General Panchayat Election on September 17 .
Issuing an order in this connection, the District Election Officer has informed that counting of votes for Imphal West district is scheduled to start from 8am at the DC complex, Lamphel and only authorized persons (State Election Commission, DC/DEO, IW or SDOs/ROs, Lamsang, Patsoi and Wangoi, candidates, their election agents, counting agents and authorized media persons) would be allowed entry inside the DC office during counting of the votes.
Only vehicles bearing red passes and white passes would be allowed to enter the complex and other vehicles would be stopped at Naoremthong Laishram Leirak corner.
Carrying of Photography and other electronic gadgets, intoxicants, inflammable items, objects capable of causing injury would also be prohibited within the premises of the DC complex.
