Kpi cops rewarded for drug haul

Chief Minister N Biren on Tuesday handed over cash reward of Rs 10 lakh to SP Kangpokpi Amrita Sinha in appreciation of confiscating large quantity of drugs by Kangpokpi police team on May 9 and June 10, 2022 .
The CM stated that the reward was given to Kangpokpi Police in appreciation of their dedication and commitment towards uprooting drug menace from the state, by con ducting search operations in various parts of the district.
The district police also took a crucial role in destroying poppy cultivations across the district, the CM said and assured that the government would continue to reward police personnel, who perform their duties sincerely.
In his address, DGP P Doungel said the two incidents of seizure of large quantity of drugs on May 9 and June 10 this year by the team of Kangpokpi Police boosted the morale of the police force as well as the War on Drugs campaign.
He underscored the importance of drug seizure on Imphal-Mao highway as illegal drugs coming from Myanmar and other districts are transported outside the state through this highway.
He then congratulated Kangpokpi Police under the leadership of SP Amrita Sinha for carrying out such good works and giving strength to the War on Drugs.
It may be mentioned that a police team of Kangpokpi PS led jointly by SI Hemjamang Khongsai and SI Raju Singh recovered 212 numbers of soap cases containing heroin weighing 2.131 kg approximately on May 9.The seized drugs have a value of about Rs 63 lakh in the local market and around Rs 31 crore in the international market.
In another incident on June 10, Kangpokpi Police team seized 181 soap cases containing heroin weighing 2.140 kg and valued at about Rs 54 lakh in the local market and around Rs 27 crore in the international market.
Senior police officials were also present when the Kangpokpi Police team was rewarded at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on Tuesday.
