Imphal, July 12, 2013:
The family members and students of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School have appealed for safe release of Mutum Nongpoknganba and Puyam Johnson who were reportedly abducted by unknown persons for recruitment to some underground outfits.
They staged a sit-in-protest in front of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur decrying abduction of the two students here today.
Mutum Nongpoknganba (13), s/o M Imotomba of Bashikhong Kitna Panung and Puyam Johnson (14) of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai are both Class-VII students of Standard Robarth School.
Nongpoknganba went missing after he went out of home for a morning walk on July 4 while Johnson remained traceless after he stepped out of his home on June 23 last.
Talking to media persons, Nongpoknganba's mother M Ibemcha said that her son went missing after he went out for a morning walk wearing only a vest.
She appealed to individuals and organizations to release her son safely if they happened to abduct him.
A student of the School said, "The abduction of students is very much against the society.
The young students should be handed over to their family members at the earliest.
Students should not be misguided by any organization".
Another student condemned the abduction, saying that the students are rallying for disturbance free education in the State, but the state and non-state actors are trying to damage the education sector.
The protestors were seen holding placards that read like "The Government must get the two school boys freed immediately" and "Do not let minors to join underground organizations".
