State Govt discusses GST

With Chief Minister N Biren in the chair, high ranking officials of the State Government today held a meeting and discussed the developments and changes brought about by implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the State .
It is reported that so far 3000 individuals/firms have applied for registration at Manipur GST .
The meeting held at the Chief Minister's chamber was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar who is also in charge of Finance Department, Chief Secretary RR Rashmi, Principal Secretary (Planning) Vineet Joshi, Commissioner (Finance) VK Dewangan, Commissioner (Taxation) Rishikesh Modak, Commissioner (Works) K Radhakumar and the GST Joint Commissioner .
While 3016 individuals/firms have applied for registration at Manipur GST, 2985 firms/individuals registered under VAT have migrated to GST .
The meeting discussed about whether receipts given to customers for purchasing goods/services reflect GST or not .
The meeting decided to take up necessary measures so as to enable firms/individuals register for GST more easily in consultation with IT Department .
The meeting further discussed about enabling GST registration at Common Service Centres .
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister convened another meeting of officials concerned and discussed the Integrated Check Post (ICP) being constructed at Moreh .
A team of the Land Port Authority of India visited Moreh and inspected the construction work of ICP on August 23.They exuded confidence that the construction work would be completed by October this year and this was conveyed to the Chief Minister and Commerce and Industry officials who took part in the meeting .
Nonetheless, Biren asked the officials to take photographs of the construction work and send them to him through WhatsApp within a week.
