Housewife found killed, irate locals block Tiddim road

Imphal, December 08 2014:
Crimes against women happen unabated even during the ongoing observance of 'International Fortnight protesting violence against women' in Manipur.
In yet another instance of rising crimes against women, a housewife was found killed by unidentified person (s) in a paddy filed adjoining Tharoilok and Phoisamdung around 3-km north of Kwakta Bazar under Churachandpur Police Station yesterday evening around 4 .
The deceased has been identified as Ngahneilam w/o Md Khomei of Kwakta Ward no 7 .
According to a local, Ngahneilam got married Md Khomei two years ago.
She left the maternal house over a dispute since then her whereabouts was traceless.
Later, his husband filed a missing report at Moirang Police Station on November 6 last.

It is said that Ngahneilam had accompanied with certain amount of cash when she left the house.
The dead body was come across by a farmer who went to the paddy field to conduct agricultural activities.
He then alerted nearby villagers who immediately informed the police about the recovery of the dead body.
Police sources said unidentified persons may have abducted Ngahleima from somewhere and abandoned the dead body at the paddy filed after killing her.
There were strangulation marks on the neck of the dead body.
The dead body was retrieved by Churachandpur police from the paddy field yesterday around 6 pm and deposited it at Churachandpur District Hospital for post mortem.
Meanwhile, on hearing the news that Ngahneilam had been found killed at the paddy field, irate locals blocked Imphal-Tiddim road this morning.
Shops opened at Kwakta Bazar were forced to down shutters.
Following the public outrage, the dead body was shifted to RIMS morgue for post mortem from Churachandpur District Hospital.
To take stock of the situation, T Manga Vaiphei, MLA Henglep (ST) Constituency; Additional SP (L/O), Bishnupur, K Meghachandra and Addl SP (Ops), Sanjit arrived at Kwakta Bazar.
Interacting with newspersons following the incident, Ningbul Haokip, member of Kuki Women's Organization Human Rights condemned the killing of Ngahneilam in the strongest terms.
She demanded the concerned authorities to nab the culprit (s) behind the killing and award befitting punishment failing which the organization would impose indefinite bandh along Imphal-Tiddim road.
She also cautioned that the dead body would not be accepted until police arrest the culprit (s) .
Meanwhile, husband of the deceased, Md Khomei surrendered before Moirang Police Station this evening around 3.20 pm.
Post mortem of the dead body was performed at RIMS morgue later this evening.
However, it has not been accepted by the deceased's family members till the time of filing this report.
