Veteran politician Rishang Keishing has stated that god never wished hatred and conflict among different tribes of Manipur.
The 96 year old seasoned politician was speaking at a commemorative function held yesterday at Bakuwa Baptist Church, Tamenglong district which marked the centenary of adoption of Christianity by Inpui tribe of Manipur.
The centenary function held under the theme 'To God be the glory' was opened with the unveiling of a memorial stone by Pastor BT Ramlan.
It is said that there are 17/18 Churches of Inpui tribe against the total 14/15 villages.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest of the occasion, Rishang Keishing stated that God never conspired or worked to create hatred and conflict among tribal communities of Manipur.

He appealed to all Pastors and village chiefs to work with loving care in order to promote peace and harmony among different communities.
Informing that he was baptised when he was just four years old, Rishang Keishing claimed that he was proud of being a Baptist.
He also lauded the act of embracing Christianity by many Meiteis in the recent past.
Noting that certain differences seemed to be creeping up among Tangkhuls and Christians following different sects of Christianity, the veteran politician called upon all Pastors to be meticulous and forgiving.
He also appealed to all Christian populace of Manipur to live as one.
MLA Janghemlung Panmei congratulated the Inpui tribe on attaining the centenary since embracing Christianity.
He also called upon all Christians to introspect whether they are behaving in accordance to God's will.
Later a souvenir of the centenary function was released.
Altogether 3000 people including married women who have taken residence at different places attended the centenary function.
