Power supply to be affected in State

Imphal, May 30 2014 :
Citing scanty rainfall and shortage of water sources, Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd today said it would not be able to supply regular electricity to the general public except on load-shedding days.
In a statement, Director of the company informed the public that the level of power generation at all the hydro power stations in the North East has drastically come down due to insufficient rainfall and emaciated water sources.
It said the State needs 55 MW of power during peak hours, but now it gets only 31 MW while 100 MW is required during evening time, but only 60-70 MW is presently available.
