Jiribam (Imphal East), June 26 2015 :
Normal life was largely affected in Nungba area due to the 72 hour bandh called by Zeliangrong United Front in pursuit of its demand for the formation of a separate Zeliangrong State.
The bandh is imposed on both the National and State Highways including inter-district roads of Zeliangrong inhabited areas of Manipur.
The 72 hour bandh also imposed a total ban on National projects inside the Zeliangrong inhabited areas.
The bandh evoked total response at Nungba area while at Noney and Khongsang it evoked mixed response.
At Noney some vegetable vendors were seen doing brisk business during the bandh.
Buses and other transport services were disrupted, National projects like railway track construction were put to a grinding halt and transport vehicles loaded with essential commodities were stranded at Awang Khul and Jiribam.
Unless security escorts are provided to these trucks, it will be impossible to reach Imphal in the next 24 hour, said some drivers.
