Imphal, July 23 2012:
Over 2500 students from various CBSE affiliated schools of the state, who failed to submit forms for appearing in class X exam conducted by the CBSE, were made to pass, alleged Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) .
Addressing a press conference in this connection at its head office here today, Wangmayum Islamudin, President of DESAM, said that the MM Higher Secondary School, Wangkhei; Little Rose High School, Canchipur; Bhakti Vedanta Mission, Sangaiprou and Central Academy, Mantripukhri which normally have about 20 to 200 students in class X were found to have increased manifold during the time of exam.
More than 2500 students of these schools were found clearing class X exam conducted by CBSE without appearing in the said exam.
Islamudin observed that there is specific information that although the results of the class X CBSE exam were declared on June 28, declaration of results for another 1,900 students is in the pipeline.
There are around 20 cases where students who have filled up the forms and got admit cards in the name of boys turned out to be girls when the results were declared.
So, the results of CBSE class X exams are worst than that of the banned National Institute of Open School results, he contended.
He further disclosed that it has come to light that the whole game is played by some 20 agents who collected money from all those students who have failed to fill up the forms and deceitfully admit them in the schools.
In the process they collected around Rs 20,000 to 30,000 per student and out of the collected amount they held back Rs 5000 per student for themselves and handed over the remaining amount to the school authorities concerned.
He also disclosed that students were charged anywhere between Rs 5000 to 6000 for a photo copy of an answered question papers.
For those students who desire to get admitted to class XII without sitting in class X, he/she was made to pay Rs 30,000 to 40,000.All in all, there is no authority to check the conduct of the class X exam in the state.
Alleging that the officials of Regional office of CBSE at Guwahati are also corrupted, Islamudin went on to say that students were made to pay Rs 3000 to 5000 to the Regional Office for allowing them to sit in the examination hall irrespective of whether they have an admit card or not.
There are also enough evidences to prove that students even possessed DO letters of MP Lok Sabha, MP Rajya Sabha and Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur to prevent objection from Chairman of CBSE There are also reports that MM Higher Secondary School, Wankhei; Central Academy, Mantripukhri and Slopeland Public School, Khongjom gave huge amounts of money to the CBSE authority to allot exam centres at their respective schools, he added.
While appealing to state government to look into the issue of granting No Objection Certificate to around 60 CBSE schools and take up necessary legal action against the agents who are making a mockery of education, Islamudin also asked the 20 agents to surrender to DESAM immediately.
