Upgraded to 100 bedded hospital, but no ambulance service in Senapati District Hospital: SDSA

Despite of being upgraded to 100 bedded status, Senapati District Hospital is sadly without any working ambulances in service for the general public, alleged the Senapati District Student's Association (SDSA).
Upset over such condition, SDSA has raised concerns and urgently appealed the State Health Department to address the issue without further delay.
According to the apex students body, the absence of even an ambulance in a district hospital is a serious negligence by the concerned authorities.
SDSA concluded "It is unfortunate and saddened to witness the present condition of District Hospital and imagine the life of patients in critical state without ambulance service in the Hospital".
According to a letter available with SDSA, Dr Kh Yule, Medical Superintendent, Senapati District Hospital has submitted reports regarding the condition of vehicles to Director, Health Service Manipur seeking prompt action on January 8 which include (1) the condition of a 407 Ambulance bearing registration number MN-01-1927 issued in the year 2001 is not in running condition due to failed starter and body parts worn out needing major repairing, (2) Advance Life Saving Ambulance (not registered yet) issued in 2018 is lying in a workshop at Imphal for servicing.
The vehicle starter failed due to defect in 3 nozzles.
Servicing cost may come around Rs 24,000, (3) Tata Sumo MN-01G-2938 donated by SBI, Senapati in 2015 is also lying unused due to engine failure needing repairing and may cost around Rs 40,000 and (4) Gypsy MN01K 4090 issued in 2006 is off road and submitted for condemnation to Director, Health Service.
