Full dress rehearsal for R-Day held

Full dress rehearsal of Republic Day celebration was held today under very tight security in the State capital, with the participation of numerous security personnel, officials of various Government institutions, students of different schools and colleges.
Interestingly, students from some Government school who had earlier announced that they would not to participate in this year's Republic Day celebration opposing the passing of the Citizen (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha, were also present as well.
Traffic along the route of the rehearsal was diverted from various junctions to alternative routes from early morning onwards.
Gaipuiril Thaimei, Assistant Director, Manipur Police Training Centre, Pangei, was the parade commander of today's full dress parade rehearsal and he will also command the coming Republic Day march past parade on January 26 .
The full dress rehearsal march parch started from 1st Manipur Rifle parade ground and passed the Chief Minister bungalow before heading towards the southern gate of the historic Kangla fort.
Passed the saluting batch in front of Kangla Uttra Sanglen and coming out from Kangla fort northern gate, the parade proceeded towards Khoyathong LIC office and from there it passed Kanglapat road passing Kangla Gate on the western side and concluded at 1st Manipur Rifle parade ground.
Around 70 parade contingents took part in the full dress rehearsal today which included paramilitary, police, school, college, NCC, scouts and guides, cultural troupes and band parties.
Among the school and college contingents, students belonging to some educational institutions who had announced to stay away from being a part of this year Republic Day march past contingent objecting the CAB, also took part in the full dress rehearsal held today.
