AHTA and Hungpung village MGNREGS Committee threaten to boycott Republic Day celebration

All Hunphun Tangs Association (AHTA) and Hungpung village MGNREGS Committee have threatened to boycott and impose public curfew on Republic Day in protest against non-release of MGNREGS fund fQr Ukhrul district.
In a press meet held today at the office of Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) at Viewland, Ukhrul, Khamung Mashangva, secretary of AHTA said that a memorandum addressed to Minister for Rural Development of Manipur was submitted via Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul demanding immediate release of the pending MGNREGS fund on or before January 25 .
According to him, both AHTA and Hungpung village have unanimously resolved to boycott and impose public curfew on Republic Day celebration at Bakshi ground Dungrei Hungpung, Ukhrul as a mark of resentment and protest against the failure of Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja in releasing MGNREGS fund.
The two local organisations strongly condemned the new order issued by DC, Ukhrul which says that MGNREGS worker wages will be released only to those job card holders which have bank account linked with their Aadhaar number for complete family, he added.
Slamming the present BJP led State Government for its lip services to the people without any tangible progress, he said that it is a disgrace and betrayal to the people.
He urged all the MGNREGS job card holders and the general public to support their movement in order to ensure justice and meet the demand of the poor daily wage earners.
