Tripartite talks with Kuki UGs to resume on Aug 22

The long halted Tripartite talks involving two umbrella Kuki underground organisations, namely Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United People's Front (UPF), Government of India and Manipur Government will be held on August 22 in New Delhi.
This matter was discussed in a Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) meeting of the KNO, UPF and the Manipur government at the Banquet Hall of Ist Manipur Rifles here today.
In the meeting started from 11 am and ended at 3 pm, Manipur Government side was led by Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Babu while around 22 leaders of KNO and UPF participated in the meeting.
JMG-UPF convenor Sanga Hmar led the UPF team while Dino Zou, convenor of JMG-KNO led the KNO delegation.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) LM Khaute, Additional Secretary (Home) Bobby Waikhom and two officials from IGAR(south) also took part in the meeting presided over by Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Babu.
While the issues on the coming New Delhi Tripartite talks largely dominated today's meeting, the matter related to the controversial KNLF designated camp at Semol in Chandel district was also came up for discussion.
KNLF is a unit of KNO.
Following the meeting, KRF, a unit of UPF, will now have its designated camp at Phingsat in Sadar Hills, Senapati district, which was earlier opposed by certain elements.
"It was mutually agreed today that KRF will have its designated camp at Phingsat and the head counting of cadres of KRF will begin soon," a source from the UPF stated.
Another meeting with leaders of KCP (Lallumba), UPPK, KYKL-MDF, URF(Lanheiba) and KCP(Nongdrenkhomba), which are engaging in Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Government was also at the Banquet Hall of Ist Manipur Rifles today.
Some of the common issues taken up for discussion in the meeting included demand for raising the monthly stipend or salaryof the cadres under Suspension of Operation (SoO) .
The outfits under SoO have been demanding to raise the monthly stipend/salary which is manageable for a family.
Issue of providing licensed guns and identity cards to the SoO cadres and opening of bank accounts of the SoO cadres were also discussed.
