NIA conducts enquiry of staff and close aides of former JNIMS Director

National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted enquiry of staff and close aide of former JNIMS Director Dr Shyamo at JNIMS Administrative and Faculty block for around 6 hours today, in connection with the alleged link/association between Dr Shyamo and proscribe terrorist organization KCP (Poirei) regarding raising terror funds.
Till date, the NIA team, which came to the State on August 9, has already visited and conducted enquiry at the residence of Dr M Shyamo at Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai, RIMS and JNIMS as well.
From around 11 am today, the NIA team, assisted by some women police officers of the State, visited JNIMS Administrative and Faculty block and carried out enquiry of the former Director's associates and other close aides at the conference hall.
The enquiry concluded at around 5 pm.
According to a reliable source, some more people might also called up in the coming days for enquiry in connection with the said case.
It may be mentioned that former JNIMS Director M Shyamo, who has been under the NIA scanner in connection with their on-going probe into raising of terror funds and supply of arms, ammunition and explosives to proscribe terror group KCP (Poirei), was arrested in the second week of July from the National Capital and is presently lodged in NIA judicial custody.
A week before Shyamo was arrested, NIA carried out a raid at his residence at Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai on July 2 and recovered/seized Rs 40 lakh in cash as well as other incriminating documents and 700 grams of gold.
NIA had re-registered the case from Special Cell Delhi Police on March 16, 2017 to carry out further investigation where it was alleged that the former JNIMS Director was actively associated with proscribed terrorist organization KCP and was also involved in raising terror funds, supply of arms, ammunition and explosive to the banned organization.
During the investigation of the case, NIA had submitted two chargesheets before the Special Court NIA Patiala House Court, New Delhi, on December 1, 2017 and May 24, 2018, against Khoirom Ranjit alias Poirei alias Great Macha s/o Ninthourel of Yairipok, Irungbam Sanatombi d/o I Kumar of Pungdongbam Mamang Leikai, P Prem Kumar alias PK alias Ibomcha s/o P Achou of Yairipok Top and Sanabam Inaobi singh s/o S Tomal of Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai, under different section of UA Act, arms and explosive substance Act.
It may also be mentioned that on January 12, 2017, Special Cell Delhi Police arrested self styled commander in chief of KCP (Poirei) Khoirom Ranjit, along with his women associate Irungbam Sanatombi, from Mayur Bihar, New Delhi, along with the recovery of two Chinese hand grenades and a 9mm pistol from their possession.
During the arrest, cops made claims about a link between the arrested rebel leader with the then MLA of Manipur, whose close associate Sanabam Inaobi of Yairipok, was also allegedly involved in extortion and kidnapping racket with KCP (Poirei) .
During the investigation of the case, P Prem was arrested by Special Cell Delhi from Manipur in the early part of 2017 and S Inaobi was arrested by NIA in December last year, in connection with the case.
