Need to appoint Building Inspector stressed

Pointing out that Manipur is in high seismic zone, State Govt Consultant, Dr RK Nimai strongly suggested architects, engineers and masons to coordinate while constructing buildings so that buildings are constructed in such away that they can withstand earthquake of high magnitude.
RK Nimai was speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural session of the three-day workshop cum masons' training on earthquake resistance construction and retrofitting of buildings in Manipur at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.
The programme was organised by North Eastern Masons' Union, Manipur under the sponsorship of Manipur Building Centre.
RK Nimai also advocated the use of durable materials in construction works in order to mitigate damages due to earthquake.
He further stressed the need to spread awareness on materials available in the State for construction of buildings.
RK Dinesh Singh, Commissioner (MAHUD) stressed the need to appoint building inspector in the State to ensure safe building construction.
As there is no building inspector in the State, all buildings including school, college and office are not certified, he pointed out.
The programme was attended amongst others by editor of Naharolgi Thoudang, Kh Loyalakpa and Director of MAHUD, N Geetkumar as the guests of honour.
