Low cost prototype of Body Disinfection Chamber produced

A five member team has 'redesigned' a low-cost prototype of Body Disinfection Chamber (BDC) to help the State face the COVID-19 pandemic.
Named BK-BDC01 (Prototype) after their enterprise BK Group, the low cost Body Disinfection Chamber (BDC) with an automatic sensor attached to it can be installed in front of offices, community entrances, leikais, entry points of market places, hotels, police stations, hospitals, schools, colleges, Universities to disinfect people, said a statement of the group.
"Considering the global emergency due to COVID-19 pandemic, we have redesigned a low-cost Body Disinfection Chamber (BDC) to support the preparedness and response of the State against COVID-19 pandemic.
We believe this prototype will help control the outbreak in the State of Manipur by disinfecting the people," said BK Group.
The team faced many difficulties in gathering the parts and requirements of the BDC during the lockdown.
"As we couldn't find the exact constituents, we had to improvise and alter the model using available resources," said the group adding the prototype is functional but requires assistance of the Government to procure required materials to improve further.
It also appealed the Health Department and experts to identify the safe and exact solution (disinfectant) that can be used in the BDC.
The group thanked PK Singh, Principal Secretary and Resident Commissioner, Manipur Bhawan Delhi, Khutheibam Farook Ali, DSP CID Security and members of Imphal Sporting Club, Khwai Brahmapur Leikal for supporting them in the project.
"We are ready to help others build more of this BDC to fight against COVID-19 pandemic," said the group.
The team members who developed the prototype BDC include Bhomechand Khaba, Borish Yurembam, Adaphro Sylvia, Wahengbam Suman Singh and Phurailatpam Krishnakumar Sharma.
