Children from state visit Taj Mahal, Agra Fort

As part of the National Integration Tour led by Major Suvajit Dey of 6/8 Gorkha Rifles of Loktak Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division, comprising of twenty children and four teachers which was flagged off from Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur on January 30, the team from Manipur visited one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal and the national heritage site of the Agra Fort Tuesday, stated a press release of PIB (DW) today.
The children were also given a picturesque and detailed explanation of the timeless history of Diwan - e - Aam, Diwaan - e - Khaas, Sheesh Mahal, and Khaas Mahal.
The children from various tribes and ethnicity of this culturally rich state of Manipur were absolutely enthralled by the spectacular beauty of all these national heritage sites that were steeped in history of valour and the cultural and artistic richness of India achieved by the country since these historic days.
Apart from various sightseeing, the children were also given a touch of the Army life when they were invited for a ride on an armoured personnel carrier and a tank available in the Indian Army in Agra.
The ride in these specialist combat vehicles was an inspiring experience for the boys and girls alike.
The children expressed extreme happiness and willingness to join the Indian Army, in the true traditions of the martial culture of the state of Manipur.
The girl students were equally enthusiastic about joining the forces.
As an icing to the cake the children also were made to take part in para sailing adventure sports which was specially conducted for them by the local Army unit located at Agra.
This unique experience given to the children has made a permanent mark in their memories for a lifetime, the release added.
