Imphal, December 07 2022:
Pointing out that construction of any new structure in Khurai Ahong-pung area which has been notified as Historical Monument and Archaeological site has been prohibited by the government of Manipur, CAF&PD minister L Susindro Meitei has assured that the 'Khurai Ahongpung case' will be solved through negotiations with both sides.
Speaking as the chief guest during the inaugural function of "LB Roofing", a roofing company, at Khurai Sajor Leikai on Wednesday, Susindro emphasised that since the area has been declared as an archaeological site, we need to safeguard the area with utmost care and respect.
While lamenting that dispute over the said site had been periodically sparking unwanted violent incidents, he confided that as the area used to be under Khurai assembly constituency before the delimitation process brought it under Wangkhei AC, representatives of both the constituencies have been discussing and will continue to closely examine the evolving situation to find an amicable solution at the earliest.
He appealed to the people living in and around the disputed site to respect each other and value one another's religion.
"Only when there is mutual understanding and respect, no incident, like the one that happened recently, would recur", he observed.
The function was also attended by LB Roofing proprietor, Leishangthem Babusing.
