Imphal, July 22 2018:
National Students' Union of India (NSUI) Manipur has vehemently condemned the failure of the State Government to bring up the Manipur Uqiversity issue during the ongoing Assembly session as well as to bring an amicable solution despite the impasse crossing 50 days.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan yesterday, NSUI State secretary Ningombam Shyamananda said that it is indeed unfortunate that the Chief Minister, despite the opposition shown by the university, community and the people against the fact finding committee, urged all those concerned to let the committee (constituted by HRD) do its job.
The State Government's silence even after MUSU, MUTA and MUSA were accused of being anti-National, is an attempt to subdue the fight for justice, he claimed.
Pointing out that only the immediate removal of the VC will bring normalcy, Shyamananda warned that if the students to get admission to higher studies as a result of the issue, all the consequences will have to be borne by the Government.
He also warned against appointing a politically affiliated individual as the VC in the future.
Shyamananda continued that NSUI State president P Bankimchandra is currently in Delhi to take the issue to the National level.
A press meet will be called and the issue will be highlighted all over the country, he added.
On the other hand, Shyamananda said that NSUI takes the recent mark tabulation scandal concerning HSCL Examination 2018 conducted by BOSEM rather seriously.
He further appealed to the authorities concerned to constitute an enquiry committee and find out the truth at the earliest.
