Imphal, July 22 2018:
Even though National People's Party (NPP) is a partner of the BJP-led coalition Government, it will never work against the will of people, asserted Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of an old age pension camp held at Pishum Ningombam Leirak today, Jayantakumar said that he has certain limitations to speak on behalf of the party as he is not the party's president.
"If I should speak as an MLA, it is logical for the people to be anxious about the Framework Agreement for no one has any idea about its contents", Jayantakumar said.
People's knowledge about the Framework Agreement is limited to what Central Government leaders and officials told media.
The agreement has not be seen in black and white, he said.
NPP has no objection against integration of Nagas but any such arrangement should not harm the integrity of Manipur and the sanctity of its territorial boundary, Jayantakumar said.
To a query, Jayantakumar who is also in charge of Law and Legislative Affairs Department said that the Speaker is the ultimate authority as far as Assembly sessions and its procedures are concerned.
As the Speaker has already suggested that all the burning issues may discussed on the last day of the ongoing Assembly session, it would be wrong to raise any further question on the matter.
He said that the camp opened today was aimed at facilitating the process of opening bank accounts for old age pensioners.
