Chief Justice given grand reception

The High Court of Manipur Chief Justice LK Mohapatra was given a grand reception in a glittering ceremony organised by All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) in the conference hall of the District and Sessions Court, Manipur East today.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Justice LK Mohapatra assured to fill up various vacant posts in different Courts of the State by August this year.
The reception function was attended by Chief Justice LK Mohapatra as chief guest, Justice of High Court of Manipur, N Kotiswar Singh as guest of honour and AMBA President K Mani as the president.
LK Mohapatra said that he had earlier served as the Chief Justice in Orissa and Allahabad before he was appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Manipur in October last year.
After he took over the charge of acting Chief Justice, he came across many pending cases due to absence of competent Courts in other districts of Manipur, he added.
People used to face lots of inconvenience earlier which according to him have been solved up to a large extent after opening of separate Courts in other districts, he added.
Maintaining that District and Sessions Court, Senapati had started functioning recently, he added that District and Sessions Courts in Churachandpur and Ukhrul would also start functioning from August this year.
He also assured to appoint one Magistrate each for all the districts of the State.
Regarding lack of staff in subordinate Courts of Manipur High Court, he said that he assured to fill up all the vacant posts in consultation with the Chief Minister by August end.
Giving his speech as guest of honour, Justice N Kotiswar expressed hope that the Chief Justice would give full attention to the Judicial system and legal fraternity of the State.
He also said that the main concern of the Chief Justice is to develop better infrastructure of the Courts situated at Lamphelpat.
Saying that the incumbent Chief Justice is the one of senior most Chief Justices of the country, Kotishwar said that it is a great privilege for the judiciary system of the State to work under him.
During the reception ceremony, All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice.
The memorandum urged the Chief Justice to fill up various vacant posts in different Courts of the State and Manipur Legal Service Authority.
It said that many cases are still pending at various Courts due to lack of staff.
