New CJ of Manipur HC feted

Newly appointed Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur, LK Mohapatra was felicitated during a function organized by All Manipur Bar Association at the conference hall of District & Sessions Judge, Manipur East here today.
The function was attended by Justice LK Mohapatra; Justice N Kotiswar Singh of High Court of Manipur and Kh Mani, president of AMBA as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honor respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Kh Mani stated that the Manipur High Court was compelled to function under an acting Chief Justice in absence of Chief Justice for nine months and maintained that a memorandum was submitted to Prime Minister, President, Law Minister and Chief Minister of the State urging them to appoint Chief Justice of the High Court.
This has now been fulfilled.

He asserted that the role of judiciary in a democratic country is of paramount importance and appealed to the government to appoint other required Judges for the High Court as soon as possible so as to facilitate judicial proceedings in the court.
Exuding confidence that the newly appointed Chief Justice will take lead initiative in examining all pending cases before the court and deliver quick justice, he assured that AMBA will extend all possible help in setting up an additional high court in the State.
LK Mohapatra noted that employment of adequate supporting staff is needed apart from Judges to maintain a full-fledged judiciary system and stressed on the need for setting up of District & Session Judge in every district of the State.
Saying that people working in judiciary should abide by rules and guidelines of the law and court strictly, he observed that lawyers who practice at lower and district courts have extra edge on performing well in high court.
