CCpur becomes ODF district

CCpur, August 11 2018:
Following a quest to make India an Open Defecation Free country by October 2, 2019, Deputy Commissioner/Chairman DWSC Churachandpur Shyam Lal Poonia has declared Churachandpur an Open Defecation Free district today.
A press release issued by DC Shyam Lal stated that the declaration was made following the total construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs) as per baseline survey of 2012.The Baseline Survey conducted in the year 2012 identified 22,282 households for construction of IHHLs in the district.
The mission was executed under the aegis of District Water and Sanitation Committee, Churachandpur in coordination with PHED, Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC), Block Level Officers/SDO/BDO, NGOs etc, it stated.
While congratulating the people of the district, the DC appealed to the people of Churachandpur to continue the cooperation and good work rendered during the various stages of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G).
It can be recalled that the mission was launched on October 2, 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation.
ODF primarily means eradication of open defecation in the entire community by providing toilets to those who do not have sanitary latrines in their households.
It stated that the verification process for the same will be completed within three months from the date of declaration.
