One day advocacy meeting held

A one day advocacy meeting was held at State Malaria office, Lamphel under the aegis of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Program (NVBDCP) and State Health Society, to discuss the role of media in spreading awareness about diseases spread by mosquitoes.
The meeting was divided into many technical sessions where eminent research persons spoke about various aspects of vector borne diseases.
Public Health Additional Director, Dr Kh Sashikumar spoke on the topic of 'Role of media in prevention and control of vector borne diseases' .
He spoke about the role played by media in spreading awareness regarding diseases like malaria, Dengue and Japanese Enchephalitis which are spread by mosquitoes.
He also stressed on active relation between the department and the media in order to successfully combat these diseases.
Dr Kh Sashikumar said that the media played a big role in enabling the continuous and ever changing schemes undertaken by the State Health Department to reach the public.
Speaking on the topic of 'Malaria situation in Manipur State 2016', State Malaria Officer, Manipur, Dr L Gojendro stressed on the importance of media in spreading awareness about the State Health Department's aim to eradicate malaria from Manipur by the year 2020.State biologist, Manipur T Kamini gave a power point presentation on the topic of 'Scenario of Dengue and Japanese Enchephalitis in Manipur' which showed the preventive measures, remedies and treatment etc regarding the said diseases.
She also stressed on the various initiatives undertaken by the Department during 2007 to 2016 to combat Dengue and Japanese Enchephalitis.
