Ukhrul, March 07 2017:
All decks have been cleared for the polls in three Assembly segments in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts tomorrow.
Polling personnel posted at far flung places have been sent sent to their respective polling stations from March 5 while for the remaining 90 polling stations, polling parties were despatched today from Bakshi, Ukhrul along with tight security arrangements.
57 companies of security forces have been deployed in the district for the second phase poll with Ukhrul district having the highest percentage of critical polling stations/ hyper sensitive polling stations in the 2017 Manipur State Assembly election.
According to an official source, women polling officers were appointed for the first time in two different polling stations under 44- Ukhrul.
Mention may be made that the fate of 14 candidates would be decided in tomorrow's election.
Security personnel have started sanitising the polling stations ahead of the election tomorrow to ensure peaceful voting.
The DEO, Ukhrul has proposed airlifting of poll material to some of the polling stations such as Chammu, Kashung, Nambisa etc.
In case of any technical problem or bad weather, mid level security for 16 polling stations would be held at Kasom Khullen, Gamnoum and Kamjong.
