Imphal, March 04 2014 :
After the Ministry of Home Affairs relaxed the PAP regime (currently applied in Manipur) for Myanmar nationals, around 100 Myanmar nationals of Mandalay booked air tickets to Imphal with a plan to celebrate Yaoshang festival here.
But the same plan has been dropped as there was no response from Air India.
As a result of Chief Minister O Ibobi's intensive lobbying with the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs, PAP regime applied in the State was relaxed for Myanmar nationals for a period of two years starting from the current year.
Like the Golden Myanmar's chartered flight to Imphal which brought a Myanmar delegation to Manipur Sangai festival last year, KB Enterprises approached Air India to operate a chartered flight from Mandalay to Imphal.
But Air India did not give any response and the State Govt did not give any attention.
Already 100 Myanmar nationals from Myanmar booked tickets for a chartered flight from Mandalay to Imphal and from Imphal to Mandalay but the tour has been cancelled as Air India did not give any response to the tour operator's proposal.
Nonetheless, 10 tourists from Mandalay would come to Imphal by road.
They would reach here on March 15 and celebrate Yaoshang festival at Imphal.
During their stay at Imphal, they would offer prayer at Govindajee temple.
From Imphal, the Myanmar tourists would go to Nabadweep and Bodh Gaya by air.
They would return to Imphal on April 1 and go back to Myanmar by road.
