Dimapur, March 04 2014 :
A Naga militant outfit engaging in ceasefire with the government is likely to play spoil-sport for the oil companies to extract oil in Nagaland.
The Nagaland cabinet's reported approval for the issuing of licenses to certain oil companies has been sternly voiced by NSCN-Khole-Kitovi (NSCN-KK) .
According to the reports, Metropolitan Oil and Gas Pvt Ltd (MOGPL) has been allotted Wokha and Peren zones for the extraction of oil by the Nagaland government.
However, the NSCN-KK has said the rich oil fields being the only lifeline for the Naga generation, even if explored; the refinery should be set up in Nagaland.
The oil policy must be based on people-centric policy and not to some few vested individuals.
The Naga outfit further said that oil as a 'Naga national property', the outfit would go to any extent to defend and preserve it as long as it did not benefit the Naga people.
The NSCN-KK then cautioned that the allotted companies can perform the work but at their own risk.
