Tousem reels under landslide impact

Tousem sub-division villagers are reportedly reeling under acute shortage of essential commodities following a landslide of about 125 feet long in between Old Mandew and New Mandew village of the sub-division.
According to a Tousem village Authority release issued by its chairman Haingeung Panme incessant rainfall in the last five days triggered the landslide consequently blocking movement of all vehicles, including Tata Sumo and trucks that normally transport the essential items from Jiribam sub-division.
Alleging that the State Government's negligence on infrastructure development in the area as the chief factor for people of Tousem area forced to endure hardships during monsoons, the village Authority urged the Government to immediately take up necessary measures for clearance of the debris and restore the food supply route.
