Hangkhanlian inspects Khuga canal, water supply

Imphal, June 11 2017:
Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister V Hangkhanlian along with Deputy Commissioner Shyam Lal Poonia, Superintendent of Police Rakesh Balwal, L Dhalballo Singh, SER-II, Th Baite, EE/PHED Churachandpur Division and other officials yesterday inspected Khuga Dam canal and water reservoir.
Due to recent incessant rainfall, the main canal located at the left of Khuga Dam collapsed on June 2 resulting to overflowing of water into Mata village.
The team also visited the main supply zone-III Khuga Dam Water Reservoir, water tank and Bus Terminal (ISBT) located at Pangzawl village.
The Department officials and the Ministerial team discussed about the pitiable condition of the water supply.
The Minister was informed that zone-III is functioning but Zone-I and II need to be repaired.
The officials also informed that water supply is sufficient for the people but is essential to replace the leaking pipes.
Hangkhanlian said water supply will soon reach all the remote areas and damaged canal and pipelines would be repaired soon the consulting the matter with the authorities concerned.
