Imphal, June 11 2017:
The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has vehemently condemned the brutal murder of Letkhosei alias L Timothy, general secretary of KNO/KLA and joint monitoring group member of KNO at Thangkhanphai village, Kangpokpi district on June 8 .
Such brutal assassination of an unarmed leader is an act of cowardice, said UKLF in a statement.
L Timothy was a young and responsible leader who took the responsibility of re-organising Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) after then commander in chief Letkholun Khongsai was murdered in 2007.It was under L Timothy's leadership that KLA was revived and signed a tripartite SoO agreement with the Government, it said while extending solidarity to the bereaved family members.
The statement further termed the factional killings which have been continuing since the past few years among the SoO signatory Kuki UGs as 'unfortunate' and added that many promising Kuki leaders of Kuki UG groups under KNO have lost their lives in due to unmindful killings.
"UKLF is disheartened that the both the Central and State Governments remained a mute spectator while factional killing continues unabated which will encourage more bloodshed in the State," the outfit said in a statement while appealing the State Government to constitute an enquiry committee to investigate into such killings among the SoO signatory UG groups and take up stringent actions against the involved culprits.
The outfit, on the other hand, has also condoled the death of NSCN-K chairman SS Khaplang.
