Bengal slow loris handed over

People for Animal, Thoubal has taken a Bengal slow loris in their custody for its safe release to the wild today.
The slow loris was found straying by a group of women at Lila Kambong area of Nongpok Sekmai yesterday.
After they brought the loris home, they handed over the animal to the volunteers of People for Animal, Thoubal in the presence of Village Secretary of Kwarok Maring village, police and other security agencies.
A press release of the animals rights group said that the loris was weak, dehydrated and got bruises on both the cheeks.
The loris has been kept at the intensive care of the PFA Thoubal, it added.
The animal would be released at a suitable place after taking suggestions from the State Forest Department.
Bengal slow loris which is a Schedule I animal play significant role as a seed disperser and pollinator.
PFA Thoubal also expressed concern over constant deforestation that led to straying of wild animals.
