MMWO highlights activities on anniversary day

Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) celebrated its 12th foundation day at GM hall, here, on Wednesday.
The celebration function was attended by MMWO president K Boboy, social scientist Dhanabir Laishram, social activist Ningthoujam Lancha, MMWO chief advisor Hassimuddin M, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang, HERICOUN president L Ratankumar, FOCS president Th Manihar and MMWO former president Abdulla P as presidium members.
Delivering the key note address, MMWO general secretary WadiyaHassan said that the organisation came into existence with the objective for bringing communal harmony, protecting territorial integrity of Manipur and to ensure equal rights and benefits for the underdeveloped Meitei Pangal community.
The organisation has been taking part in different issues of Manipur and this year too it organised awareness programme at different places against drug menace to save the people and youth in particular from addiction.
In addition to it, the organisation handed over drug addicts and peddlers to rehab centres and police, he said and recalled the Sora incident where the organisation took vital roles in resolving the conflict between the government and the people.
Moreover, drives are periodically conducted to identify illegal settlements in the state, Wadiya added.
