Training programme held at Senapati

Agriculture office, Senapati organised a one day training programme on scientific rice production technology cum distribution of inputs at Keithelmanbi of Senapati district today.
Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir and Kangpokpi AC MLA Nemcha Kipgen were the chief guest and president of the function respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Abdul Nasir said that agriculture officials must be aware of the technologies and know-how being adopted by the farmers.
Directing the officials to extend best support to farmers, the Minister also urged the farmers to work together with agriculture officials to enhace production.
Nemcha Kipgen in her speech thanked the Agriculture Minister for paying a visit to Keithelmanbi.
Giving his keynote address, District Agriculture Officer M Gojendra said that providing high yielding seeds to farmers to enhance production is the primary objective of the Agriculture Department.
He added that newly invested varieties produced by CAU Imphal, ICAR and Rice Research Station, Wangbal yield good production.
Production can also be enhanced by adopting System of Rice Intensification of hybrid varieties, he added.
Soil Expert L Sanatomba and Kh Nimaichand of Plant Heath Clinic, Sanjenthong spoke at the programme as resource persons.
Twenty knapsack sprayers and one tonne of tampha phou seeds were also distributed to farmers in the programme.
